Loading...The global extension of environmental problems is, to a high degree, a consequence of ahighly entropic model of the world economy which is making income also on account ofexcessive pressure on environment. A model of sustainable development appears to be aglobally acceptable developmental alternative, treating the world economy as merely one ofthe planetary ecosystem components. The Slovene economy will also have to adjust to thelimits of the environment since it is excessively wasting raw materials.

With the purpose of confirmingour assumption, we formulated more accurate criteria and also determined as to what is thereal status of succession on mountain farms in Slovenia. It has proved to be more favourable, than it is presented by the official statistics.

In archaeologicalliterature, the study area is known only for two archaeological sites in caves Lisičja jama (IronAge) and Koblarska jama (roughly late Copper and early Bronze Age). Until now, remainsof prehistoric settlements have not been identified on the surface. With field investigation ofkarstic surface and application of geographic information systems the authors are trying todefine the potential for past settlement of the area. Another aspect of the research is concernedwith systematical research of horizontal cave passages in the Koblarski hrib area. Throughthe investigation of natural and anthropogenic features and processes in cave environmentsthe authors are trying to establish historical use of caves.

Ecological footprints can represent the importantpart of geographical concepts for the preparation of the local environmental action plan. The calculation of ecological footprints has shown that at the moment, Ormož municipalitydoes not follow the sustainable development. Municipality’s ecological footprints exceedthe capabilities of its bioproductive areas. Ecological footprints are 4.3 gha per inhabitant(Slovenia 3.4 gha per inhabitant), while the ecological deficit is 1.11 gha per inhabitant(Slovenia 0.6 gha per inhabitant).

The article presents some possibilities of estimatingthe reliability of estimates in a certain period, using the hydrogeographical methods.

From the environmentalprotection point of view, these gardens are important for the intensity of production andlarge number of gardeners. In author’s graduation thesis the gardening habits have beeninvestigated in detail. We combined data from field work with numerous measurements ofphytopharmaceutical products and nutrients in soil and vegetables.
