Abstract

Read online

The author looks at ways of conceiving the effects of becoming digital on the human body, and particularly the female body, taking as its subject of analysis Lucy, a 2014 French science fiction film written and directed by Luc Besson. Drawing on new materialist and posthumanist theory, the author works out an analysis in which technology alters and transforms the materiality of the female human body and reasserts the de-centralizing potential of that becoming digital.
