Hans Kelsen, Professor at the University of Barcelona

Abstract

Recently found documents show that, in June 1933, when the persecution of Jews in Germany was forcing Hans Kelsen to leave the country, the University of Barcelona appointed him professor of the Faculty of Law. The study of the documents allows us to point to José Ramón Xirau, Full Professor of Procedural Law, Dean of the Faculty and one of the main promoters of the project of autonomy of the University of Barcelona, as the one who made this appointment possible.
