This article aims to outline and situate part of the trajectory of gender and sexuality studies in Brazil, through the perspective of urban studies. Our argument focuses on research into eroticism and sexual and gender diversity in Brazilian anthropology, considering how processes of social differentiation are addressed from within urban contexts. We also examine how these approaches can contribute to the understandings of the production of the city itself.
